Nog 32 andere toffe ambient ads hier te vinden.
Ja de helft daarvan hebt ge ongetwijfeld al zien opduiken, maar ook enkele nieuwe. Blijft leuk werk

This is an old one - but it’s definitely worth the post.

Is #advertising realy working ?

In my job, I’m always confronted with marketeers, juggling around with spreadsheets and slides, expecting a maximum of lead generation  by spending a disgusting amount of money on advertising.   Media relations (aka PR) are mostly left with the crumbs of the budget.

I bet professional Ad agencies have all kinds of graphs and charts to prove the importance and the impact of advertising.  I admit, I really can ‘t compete with the tidal wave of figures and infographics these guys creatively produce.

But then I found the killer graph….

Found it in a late a Smartplanet-blog post on water consumption.

It shows the water usage in Edmonton, Canada, during the Finals of the Olympic hockey game.   Strikingly we see peaks in water consumption during the breaks.  Ergo, whenever a period ended, Canadians jumped up , rushed to the toilet and flushed the tension away.

During the breaks, TV stations air their extremely expensive commercials (e.g a 30 sec ad during the Superbowl costs about 30 million USD).  But since everybody is visiting the little chamber, who’s watching the commercial ?

Needless to say I saw an increase in my PR budget for 2010 after this presentation.
