New platform is hosted in the Euro Green IT Cloud based on IBM Cloudburst
Brussels, 31 March 2011 - D’Ieteren (Euronext: DIE) signed an agreement with IBM (NYSE:IBM) to develop and test a smart mobility concept called MyMove. The concept allows ‘communities’ to manage their mobility in order to reduce travelling time and costs, reduce the need for parking space, eliminate CO2 emissions and increase air quality using electrical energy. D’Ieteren Auto, the car distribution arm of D’Ieteren, choose IBM to develop a front-end and an integration platform allowing online booking of eCars and eBikes from laptop or smartphone as well as a complex optimization tools aimed at maximizing the usage and availability of vehicles.
For the design of MyMOve, D’Ieteren Auto and IBM worked together with the University of Brussels (ULB, IRIDIA institute). The MyMove front-end solution is a java web based application based on IBM DB2 express, Glassfish Enterprise Service BUS (open source software) and IBM ILOG for optimization. The MyMove platform is hosted in “Chlorophylle”, the cloud offering from Euro Green IT, based on IBM Cloudburst, an integrated, pre-installed and pre-configured solution with software, server, network, storage and QuickStart services.
MyMove provides communities of users with an agile system for sharing vehicles at work or in residential buildings. MyMove will optimize the sharing and the management of vehicles as well as the combination of different transport mode. MyMove allows the user to book a vehicle through an online reservation system from their PC and/or smartphone. An on-board telematic system maintains the on-going contact between drivers and MyMove’s back office and call center.
MY MOVE is now tested among 6 partners: Cofinimmo (corporate business park), Home Invest and Group Tevi (residential building), Les Ateliers des Tanneurs/City of Brussels (Institutional), and IBM. Low CO2 emission vehicles as well as electric cars and bikes are used during the pilot phase.
“This innovative project is an example on how technology enables smarter mobility” says Philippe Guillaume, Automotive Leader, IBM Benelux. “The project will analyze the mobility requirements of a community of users, and offer them an optimized solution for their transportation needs thanks to the intelligent use of technology. Hosting it in the cloud is the most cost efficient way to get fast, secure and scalable access to a test and development environment.”
Thierry van Kan, Business, CEO D’Ieteren Auto: “This project illustrates D’Ieteren willingness to foster the introduction of sustainable technologies that will transform the mobility offering in the coming years. With MyMove, we invest in new ways to share mobility and we are also are anticipating the gradual arrival of electric vehicles on the market. MyMove also offers a whole range of other applications that we can leverage in our D’Ieteren different businesses“.
Didier Joos de ter Beerst, manager in charge of MyMove: “Mobility is in D’Ieteren’s DNA. More than 200 years ago, D’Ieteren was about horse coaches, and now, with MyMove, we are talking about smartphone mobility apps, on-board car telematics and advanced mathematics for optimizing fleet. But basically, it is still about mobility. This partnership with a top-class player like IBM is aimed at bringing information technology and data management innovations at the heart of mobility”.
A MyMove station at IBM in Brussels, will be inaugurated by Thierry van Kan, CEO of D’Ieteren Auto, and Jacques Platieau, Country General Manager of IBM Belgium on March 31, 2011.
