Also spaces in complexes which are either not occupied or sunshades in parks etc can also be covered with photo voltaic cells to generate power and harness alternate energy.

Jacques Platieau named new Country General Manager IBM Belgium / Luxembourg and Sector Leader Benelux
Brussels, April 8th, 2010 - IBM has named Jacques Platieau as Country General Manager IBM Belgium / Luxembourg and Sector Leader Benelux. Mr. Platieau succeeds Bart Van Den Meersche who has held the post for the past eight years.
Mr. Platieau has held various roles in the Benelux executive team. He joined IBM in 1984 in the Telecommunications Division and since then he has assumed various responsibilities both as client and project executive and in a number of sales & services management positions at local as well as at international level, including Software Group Executive. Jacques was General Manager of the Global Business Services Division for the Benelux since July 2005.
Mr. Van Den Meersche has been named as Vice President Industries & Business Development, IBM Southwest Europe. In this new role Bart will focus on driving business through our industry dimension, including the development of large deals and ensuring that we are creating sustainable value for our clients. Bart will be a member of the European Leadership team, but will keep his base in the Brussels office.

We are honored to invite you for the showcase on ‘Smart Mobility’ on April 21st 2010, 10:00am in Autoworld.
A consortium of companies including IBM, NXP, Mobistar, Touring, Volvo, Transport & Mobility Leuven and Magicview organize a demonstration of Smart Mobility. By means of a test drive between Brussels and Louvain, they’re able to show the technology that the government can use in the future to guide its mobility policy. This showcase of Belgian R&D introduces a new intelligent platform that can host a wide range of mobility solution, such as e-call and road charging. In addition, the open platform can also provide a range of additional value added services to drivers.
The showcase is kicked-off by Federal Secretary for Mobility, Mr. Etienne Schouppe, Mrs. Hilde Crevits, Flemish Minister of Mobility, Mrs. Brigitte Grouwels, Brussels Minister for Transport and Jan Cools, CEO of Touring, presenting their policy and vision regarding ‘Smart Mobility.
Afterwards you have the opportunity to have a ‘live’ experience of ‘Smart Mobility’ during a test drive, with demonstration of road charging and eCall.
Upon arrival in Louvain, the consortium leaders will present a short debrief of the test. Mr. Louis Tobback, major of the city of Louvain, will present his town as laboratory for Smart Mobility. The showcase ends with a short lunch; afterwards the bus will drive you back to Brussels.
